Auckland: L’affare Melrose

I was first introduced to L’affare during one of visits down in Wellington which has resided in Te Aro for over 25 years. In 2016, they opened a flagship roastery and cafe in Auckland and like Little & Friday, it has been a key establishment in the brunching scene in New Market.

The eatery has a slick industrial vibe with exposed steel, wooden accents, and brass. It can sit up to 70 people with some tables outside if you were dining with your furry friends. My latest visit was for Sunday lunch and the place was bustling with food and coffee flying out from the kitchen.

I couldn’t resist an avocado and poached egg on toast and I happily enjoyed it with my cold filter coffee.

Avocado, lime, chili, & pistachio on toast with poached egg ($17)

An overall enjoyable meal. We managed to get parking close by easily and did not have to wait long for a table. It may not be one of Auckland’s top cafes, but it’s surely worth a try!
