You should always find an opportunity to treat yourself, especially when it is a night of decadent desserts in the form of a degustation. So when Hundred Acre Food decided to hold dessert popups in Auckland, who could say no?
The pop-up event was held at Federal and Wolfe and the menu were comprised of three desserts ($39). The Honey Whiskey and Chocolate first course was made up of a luscious smoked chocolate parfait on chocolate soil, whisky jelly, lemon curd, honeycomb and the best honey ice cream I have ever tasted.
The Basil and Strawberry second course was a smooth pannacotta with strawberry jelly and raspberry sorbet and mini meringues – a perfect palate cleanser.
The last course was an interesting White Chocolate and Blue Cheese dish made up of white chocolate ice cream, blue cheese mousse, green apple and duck fat caramel apple. It sounds adventurous but it works. The blue cheese and white chocolate complimented each other and we loved it!
It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed a dessert degustation and Hundred Acre Food reminded me how it is the perfect way to spend an evening and there could never be too much dessert! Dan Freeman and his team did a marvellous job but sadly, their October pop up is sold out.
Advice: Follow them on their Instagram so you can nab tickets to their next event!
