I have such fond memories of the Wine Loft on Shortland Street back when it was still open. It was a place where my friends and I would spend our Saturday nights when we thought we were too cool to go to a pub. Fast forward to 2016 and Wine Loft is now Vikki Lane Bar and Kitchen and at a new site in Victoria Street West in Auckland CBD.
The menu is split so that whether you’d after food to peck at with your after work drinks or a three course dinner, there is something for all occasions. We wanted to try a bit of everything from their small plates menu and opted for the Vikki’s Platter and a slow braised pork belly with hoisin style sauce to share.
The food we ordered was very gastropub and complimented my cold beer. Nothing really stood out from the platter but we thoroughly enjoyed the tender pork belly with the crispy crackling. Service was efficient and not overbearing. A good place to stop by after work if you’re working in town.
