Auckland: Pasta and Cuore

Since it’s opening late last year, Pasta and Cuore has been on my ever-growing restaurant checklist. As their name suggest, Pasta & Cuore specialises in handmade fresh Italian pasta and their dishes changes regularly with daily specials that highlight local produce and quality ingredients.

For lunch, my three friends and I each ordered a different pasta and happily shared by passing around our dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed my ricotta and spinach stuffed Mezzelune with sautéed onion, crushed hazelnut and slices of black truffle. The salivating aroma of truffle is one of my all time favourite and this dish was executed perfectly. My only complaint was there wasn’t enough. But my favourite would have to be the Tagliatelle with a classic Bolognese ragout. The free range meat with the sweet tomato coats the al dente pasta and it was exquisitely balanced.

We were impressed with everything that Pasta and Cuore have to offer. The service provided by the staff was accompanied with a smile and we adored the professionalism. The charming decor and bright light make the dining area a comfortable place to enjoy our food and it was a shame that the weather prevented us from eating in the courtyard. My only complaint is the portion of the dish compared to the prices. Luckily, none of us were starving so the serving was adequate.
