When in Mooloolaba, you must fill your belly with glorious seafood. Rather than spending a small fortune in a restaurant, we decided to pick up some local wild caught seafood from the Fish Market. Firstly, I must applauded the systematic flow of customers in the market that day. Despite the large number of customers wanting to buy seafood, the staff worked in an efficient manner, no one was ignored and everyone managed to get what they want without having other customers push in.
The seafood was neatly displaced on the counter; it was a sensory overload as we struggled to decide on what to get. Between the four of us, we order a kilogram of king prawns, two dozen juicy Queensland oysters, a gigantic mud crab and three bugs. All cooked and served chilled.
The Mooloolaba Fish Market is a fantastic source for fresh and cooked seafood. As the seafood is caught daily with a high turnover at the store, everything was fresh and appetising. For the amount of money we spent, it was amazing value. It could have easily costed twice as much if we decided to dine at a restaurant and order two seafood platter. We also enjoyed the food in the comfort of our accommodation which meant we happily ate with our hands!
