When it comes to finding a place to eat at Mooloolaba, visitors will go straight to the coast where you can enjoy the view while eating breakfast. I was one of them, I had an amazing breakfast at Elliot’s Bistro on my first day there. But when you ask a local for a recommendation on where to eat, they are likely to direct you to a hidden gem like The Velo Project which is tucked in amongst residential housing.
An eclectic, vintage-inspired themed cafe, The Velo Project was filled with locals and we took one of the last table available. Known to use fresh local ingredients, the kitchen produces simple honest real food which they declared is made with love. They have good variety on their regular menu but I opted to order from their daily specials and happily devoured the roast pumpkin salad with risoni, haloumi and spinach, covered with a delectable kale and almond pesto.
Rather than having a coffee, I paired my salad with a refreshing green smoothie. A very enjoyable meal with friendly and quick service. The cafe had a calm relaxing vibe – a perfect place to start the day.
