After waiting about 20 minutes on Hardware Street, we were shown to a round table inside. Despite having ample space inside as well as outside, it was packed with customers – a clear sign of its popularity. We enjoyed our coffee while deciding on what to eat. I adore the presentation of my cold brew which came with sugar syrup and milk but I drank it on ice.
The last time I was in Melbourne was over a year ago and during our visit, I was desperate to have brunch at the ever so popular Hardware Société. But due to a fire in the parlour next door and the subsequent renovations, we never managed to eat here. Fast forward to late 2015, I finally made my way back to Melbourne and waited in line for a table for brunch on a sunny weekday.
Deciding on what to order was hard as they had plenty of options and they were all appealing. Yet, a decision needed to made and I decided to splurge and order the lavish lobster benedict which was served with two perfect poached eggs on a soft toasted brioche bun. This was absolutely divine
My other dining companions ordered the grilled mushroom and the guilt-inducing fried brioche toast with creamy nutella, fresh raspberries and crushed hazelnuts.
One of Melbourne’s best cafe in the CBD, Hardware Societe is here to amaze. The menu has something for everyone and the customer service was efficient, attentive and friendly. It’s popular status means that during weekends, the wait time can be over an hour but the long queues outside would ensure you that it is well worth the wait.
