The exponential growth of the popularity of Crosstown Doughnuts meant that they needed to move from their small store in Piccadilly Circus tube station into their brand new (since May) shop in Soho. Serving up creative and unique flavour combination, walking in the store made me reminisce about being a kid in the candy section at our local dairy.
Crosstown’s formulation is unlike the usual doughnut affair. Mixing in a sourdough starter, it has a more bready texture compared to regular doughnut which makes it more substantial and filling. Despite our breakfast at Flat White just around the corner, we couldn’t walk pass without ordering a few (to share!).
Raspberry Jam Doughnut | Filled with homemade fresh raspberry jam, freeze-dried raspberries and dusted in icing sugar.
Matcha Tea Doughnut | Green tea flavoured doughnut with a vanilla glaze on top.
Mini Chocolate and Passionfruit Doughnut | filled with tangy passionfruit curd and topped with milk chocolate and freeze-dried passion fruit pieces.
There were several other flavours including Peanut Butter and Berry, Creme Brulee and Lamnut which sparked my interest but knowing that we had a full day of eating ahead, we controlled ourselves and refused to order a box to devour later. Mouthful of deliciousness, these gourmet doughnuts were divine!
