Walking around on a rainy Good Friday in Sydney CBD, trying to find a cafe that was open was a mission. The chilly weather combined with the rain and the extremely early flight meant that we were hungry and desperate for a feed.
Our hunt took us to Gazzi, a small cafe inside the World Square complex. Opting for a safer choice, I had the salmon and asparagus with poached egg on toast. Served with half a grilled lemon, the citrus aroma was the perfect pairing with the smoked salmon. The poached egg had a gooey golden centre and the scattering of pomegranate seeds was a nice textural touch. My friend’s avocado, tomato and poached egg on white toast may look simple, but it was divine. The grilling of the tomatoes intensified the sweetness and the creamy avocado puree is well-flavoured with a hint of lemon.
Didn’t know what to expect with Gazzi as it was an accidental discovery but we were so glad that we found this neat little cafe. Service was friendly and the food was top-notch. Recommended if you’re around World Square.
