Ponsonby Central is one of those gems that has much to offer. With fourteen eateries in one complex, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a place to eat. Our latest visit to this dining hub took us to Chop Chop Noodle House, an express oriental shack by the guys at Blue Breeze Inn which is just next door.
The menu has an eclectic mix of dishes from a range of cuisine including the Japanese ramen, Korean fried chicken and Chinese pork buns. We ordered the barley miso ramen with chilli tofu, mushrooms, courgette, kimchi, corn and smoked miso butter. The ramen is made out of rye and has the perfect chewy texture. It was an extremely hot day, so we paired the ramen with a light tangy egg net salad with minced prawns, Vietnamese mint, bean sprouts, chilli and peanut.
Pleasantly surprised with our dishes. Both were well executed and just what we were after. The ramen was an explosion of flavours and the egg wrap was clean and refreshing. The price is on the expensive side compared to eateries serving similar cuisine but average compared to the other joints in Ponsonby.
