Waffles. Ever since my friend refer to them as pancakes with ‘abs’, it always has a way of bringing a smile to my face. My social media feed for the past few months fuels my cravings as gorgeous looking waffles from Waffle Supreme haunts me on Instagram.
Occupying a small red container-like stall, Waffle Supreme can be found on Elliot Street, a pedestrian/car shared zone. With no official seating area aside from the public benches, the waffles are expected to eat on the go. My friends and I ordered two different sweet waffles to try after having a big lunch at Charlie and George an hour before.
The waffles on its own are not overly sweet, it is more the choice of topping that defines the richness. The lemon curd with poppy seed has the perfect balance of sweet and sour and the addition of poppy seeds provides a light crunch but little taste value. The Lumberman Waffles is covered with maple custard and plenty of toasted walnuts and was much heavier than the lemon, but it was beautiful regardless.
I’m so envious of those who works in Auckland Central and can treat themselves to these perfectly caramelised waffles on a regular basis! The portion is perfect for a quick snack and I’m looking forward to the upcoming new flavours!
