The philosophy behind the Good One in Ponsonby revolves around generous hospitality and a great cup of coffee. Nested in an old manufacturing building among the side streets in Ponsonby, it’s central without being too central! With long wooden communal tables, metal shelving, fresh flowers and yellow detailing throughout the space, the Good One is one of the coolest place in town!
Food: Unlike other cafes in Auckland, this place is all about the coffee, so don’t expect a breakfast/lunch menu! Their food cabinet is filled with goodies from Little and Friday which gets delivered to them fresh from their kitchen. Options like cinnamon donuts, cheesy twists, pies and assorted tarts, there is something to satisfy your cravings.
Coffee: Known for their brewed coffees, the people at the Good One knows how to make a good cup of black gold. Served in their signature big white mug with a yellow triangle sitting on a wooden tray, they spend a lot of time perfecting their coffees. If brewed coffee is not your thing, you can opt for a flat white. Delicious nonetheless!
Price: Average coffee prices at around $4.
Location and Parking: It’s on one of the side streets in Ponsonby so it’s located in central Auckland. There is no allocated parking space but there are several street parking available, just hope you’re lucky with the parking fairy!
Dining Experience: I adore this place. I can see myself spending all my weekends here with a cup of beautifully brewed coffee while I blog/read/eat/chill. It does get rather busy during the weekends so expect to share the communal table with other customers. Attentive and friendly staff.
