Wellington’s grooviest retro beachside cafe, Beach Babylon is open seven days from breakfast to dinner and offer stunning views of Oriental Bay.
Food: The gluten-free babylon infamous potato rosti with ham off-the-bone and topped with runny poached eggs and hollandaise sauce was amazing. The potato rosti added a touch of greasiness and the ham was perfectly seasoned and tender. There are quite a few appetising items on the menu that you don’t see often including the chili, smoked paprika and aged cheddar fondue which is served from 4PM onwards.
Coffee: Serving Havana coffee, the barista that day made a great cup of coffee!
Price: Brunch and lunch ranges from around $10 – $20 and dinner from $8 – $35
Location and Parking: A lovely cafe to stop by after a scenic drive around Oriental Bay in Wellington. Parking is a nuisance as you have to rely on street parking on Oriental Parade only as side streets are for residents.
Dining Experience: My friends and I had a great time at Beach Babylon. The staff were friendly, kitchen was quick with their food and it was a well-rounded dining experience. We loved the retro vibe. Now if only the weather was better, then we could have enjoyed the view while we dined!
