Established in 2010, Federal and Wolfe is a hidden little gem inside Auckland CBD.
Food: Federal and Wolfe offers a breakfast and lunch menu and uses organic and free range ingredients from local farmers. My order of Wolfe Lentils, cooked with chopped tomato and onions was served with a side of organic pork sausages, crispy potato hash and a poached egg, covered with creamy hollandaise sauce. They have plenty of vegetarian options including the sweetcorn and haloumi fritters that caught my eye (maybe for next time).
Coffee: Good organic soy flat white made with Kokako organic coffee beans. Served hot but with a tad too much froth.
Price: Between $15 – $20
Location and Parking: Pay and display street parking right outside, if you’re lucky. The maze of one way streets makes it hard and frustrating to locate a park, but if you don’t mind walking, there are several car parks around.
Dining Experience: Federal and Wolfe is tucked away, which has its advantages as it was not over crowded so the wait for food (three dishes in total) was only about 20 minutes. However, the customer service was only average and a smile here and there would have been nice. I love the cute casual decor with the graffitied walls and chairs and it was a nice place to relax.
Overall: ★★★ ½
