Wellington: Floriditas

My dining adventure in Wellington continued at Floriditas. This darling cafe and restaurant, located in the heart of Cuba Street, serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with an extensive menu throughout the day. So my sister and I stopped by in search for a delectable lunch with a good cup of joe.

With dishes such as pasta, soup of the day, filled buns, steak and platters on offer, we were spoilt for choice. I ended up getting the smoked mackerel and potato hash. The combination of chunky smashed potatoes and flakes of smoked mackerel was exceptional. This was topped off with a perfectly poached egg. The liquid gold (aka runny egg yolk) kept everything moist and intensified the flavours without being overly rich.

The lunch was a great way to start our day, which included shopping and more shopping. Floriditias has a calm relaxing vibe and we were pleased with the attentive service. Next time, I’m going to have the clam pasta!
