Puhoi Cottage Tea Room

We stopped by at Puhoi Cottage Tea Room for brunch a few weeks ago when we were taking a trip up to Matakana. It is situated in relaxing Puhoi Valley and is the oldest tea house in New Zealand. It is famous for serving Devonshire Cream Teas which includes a large scone served with freshly whipped cream and jam as well as a drink of your choice.

As our lovely host – David – highly recommended their Devonshire Cream Teas, we decided to order one serving as well as a chicken pie for my partner. The scone was indeed pretty huge and was pretty good and the plunger Puhoi Coffee was just what we needed in the morning. The chicken pie got the two thumbs up from my partner and according to him, it was “the best pie he has ever eaten”!

The place was pretty quiet during the morning but was perfect to just sit and relax. They also have a nice garden and deck where you can enjoy your food and coffee. It was a lovely environment!
